• Build 132.3! •

15 January 2008

This patch includes a great number of fixes both small and large. A few major changes are listed below and then a more comprehensive list of more pertinent fixes follows. Please let us know if we didn't fix something we think we fixed!

As a reminder, if you are having problems patching please download the Patch Fix and follow the instructions.

Things of greater note:

PORTALS

To end quests you now need to enter the portal. The portal will appear once the victory condition has been reached. To enter the portal simply move a unit into the portal - in multiplayer quests only one player needs to trigger the portal. Please be aware that you can still lose the quest by not reaching the portal! We'll be cleaning this function up a bit more soon. Please let us know of any quests which are now more readily exploitable due to this new behavior.

PARTICLE SYSTEM

We've made some big updates to how we're using particles to allow us to make our particles look much better. We've started to adjust the particles but there's a gigantic project ahead for our particle people. Please be patient as they begin to clean things up. If you notice anything that is horrible or completely lags out your machine (abnormally!) please report it to the bugs forum.

ITEMS

We're expanding the system for items. You'll notice that we now have the Quest Loot box in quests, rolling for items in multiplayer modes, and the new icons are being used in many places. We're not quite done yet but you can see the pieces coming together.

PATCH NOTES

• Added portals - when quest objectives have been completed move a unit to the portal to exit the quest. Only one player needs to enter the portal in multiplayer quests. A quest can still be lost after the portal has appeared...

• Treasure gained in quests now shows up in the Quest Loot box which can also be accessed via the Quest Loot banner or the 'O' hotkey. Players in multiplayer quests can select to roll for weapons and armor by clicking on them or pass by simply not clicking the icon to determine who gains the item.

• Boot and Ban options in the war menu now should work again.

• If a chest location is unreachable the unit will automatically pick up the chest - this is a temporary fix for chests spawning in invalid locations.

• Surrendering in single player quests should work properly now.

• Players can no longer field units if they have surrendered in a multiplayer environment.

• Gods are now properly satisfied and should not reward players for exploiting.

• Many attack animations are now working. We'll be getting to the rest as soon as possible.

• Game attack cycle time reduced to help adjust for the attack cycle fix of last patch. Game speed should be at least 25% faster now - more adjustments are coming.

• Storehouses now give 10% bonus production for the city/territory they are built in. A max of 5 storehouses can exist on each piece of land.

• Quest feedback survey now pops up after the battle results page to help players understand what was gained and lost in quests.

• Fixed a few more issues with the 30 second deployment timer - hopefullly we don't have any more issues with that.

• Boss particles are being fixed and are missing in most cases.

• Buying and selling items should now work properly as several minor bugs were resolved with the system.

• Units can no longer be transferred when they would exceed CP limits for the destination.

• Guild war emails should now work. Guilds should now get rewards if they win wars. Wars now also give mana shards based off the number of mana shard mines each of the warring guilds have.

• Guild wars can now be tracked for rankings which should be showing up soon on the website.

• Scrolling now should work properly in all of the unit management pages.

• Unit's now have little flags showing their destination - blue being movement, red being a target.

• Whispers now have a sound attached to alert the player he's been whispered at.

• Buttons in menus now have sounds attached.

• Made significant adjustments to how particles are emitted - horrendous amounts of particle cleanup are now necessary to get things looking proper.

• Clicking twice on a unit will now select all units of that type.

• Units now change formation even when standing still.

• Several bugs with formations should be fixed making units not stand so far away from their enemies while engaged.

• Selecting a unit and then targetting a friendly unit will cause the first unit to move as close as possible to the targetted unit.

• Items now have level requirements. These level requirements are your Nation's level, not the Unit level.

• End of battle dialog now lists the computer opponents are Enemy.

• Archenemy bonus now properly works.

• Chat now defaults to all channels in the first tab.

• AI units now use formations and abilities - only a few are setup to do so at this point as quests will need to be significantly adjusted to deal with this.

• Wooden gatehouse animation fixed.

• Fixed respawn issues related to capturing buildings.

• Gatehouses are now open in domain mode.

• Weapons and armor now show as icons in the Modify Unit screen.

• Double-clicking is now handled better.

• Added some sound system fixes - improved sound volume balance should follow this fix.

• Wood Golems removed and replaced with Wood Spriggans.

• Fixed numerous memory related issues.

• No more rewards of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA will be given to players.

• Fixed a few more issues with CPs not following the proper rules when units are routing/killed/retreated at bad times.

• Territory quests should now complete properly.

• Equipping weapons now uses the icons - the armor page has not yet been updated. More cleanup due next build.

• Fixed an issue with the conflict and custom channels. Players will need to delete the chatsettings.dat from Saved/ACCOUNT_NAME/NATION_NAME/ folder. Easiset fix is to simply delete the Saved folder.

• Several unit balance changes - we're getting close to a review of each faction so please report all thoughts in the Troop/Spells forum!
